CONCLUSION
Child Abuse occurs at every socioeconomic level,across ethnic and culture,within all religions,and at all level of education.
There are some research shows that:
• 36.7% of all women in prison and 14.4% of all men in prison in the United States were abused as children. • Children who have been sexually abused are 2.5 times more likely to abuse alcohol and 3.8 times more likely to become addicted to drugs. • One third of abused and neglected children will later abuse their own children, continuing the horrible cycle of abuse • Children who experience child abuse are 3 times more likely to commit violent crime. • Four children die everyday as a result of child abuse. Three out of these four victims are under the age of 4. • 3 million reports of child abuse are made every year in US.
There are 4 types of child abuse: a) Emotional abuse b) Physical abuse c) Sexual abuse d) Neglect
EMOTIONAL ABUSE
Is a pattern of behavior by parents or caregivers that can seriously interfere with a child’s cognitive,emotional,psychological or social development.Emotional abuse also referred as psychological maltreatment.Children are emotionally abused when they undergo this few conditions.
a) IGNORING: either physically or psychologically.The parents or caregiver don’t present to respond to the child’s attitude or act.
b) REJECTING:refusing to touch the child and respond to the child’s need.(Eg: No hugs,kisses or other signs of affection)
c) ISOLATING: The parents or caregiver prevent from having social interactions and limiting the child’s freedom or movement.
