IMMEDIATE CONTENT: THE OBSERVATION TOOK PLACE IN THE SITTING ROOM AREA OF THE HOME. TC IS RUNNING AROUND THE HOUSE LAUGHING AND HAVING FUN WITH C.
NAME OF CHILD OBSERVED: TC
DESCRIPTION OF CHILD: T.C IS 2 YEARS 11 MONTHS OLD GIRL AND IS AN ACTIVE, HEALTHY GIRL. SHE IS THE YOUNGEST IN A FAMILY OF 3 CHILDREN AND IS THE ONLY GIRL.
AIM: THE AIM OF THE OBSERVATION IS TO OBSERVE TC FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME AS SHE PLAYS WITH HER TOYS AND COMMUNICATES IN ORDER TO ASSESS HER LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT.
OBSERVATION

C = OTHER CHILD
A = ADULT
T.C is running around playing with C laughing. A calls T.C and is asking her to count to ten. T.C doesn’t acknowledge what A is asking her, she is to busy running around. Then A is asking T.C what cartoon is on the TV. T.C comes in and is looking at the TV and says “Timmy Timmyâ€. T.C then runs out to the kitchen with C but soon reappears and sits on A’s lap and starts saying “shoesâ€. She is lifting up her feet and looks at them continuing to say “shoesâ€. A asks T.C to sing but she replies “noâ€. A starts singing a song but T.C says “shut up youâ€. A asks T.C again to count to ten, this time T.C starts counting “one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, tenâ€. A is smiling at her and telling her she did a great job. T.C seems so pleased with the reaction she got from counting she is starting to count again. As soon as she finishes counting again she starts saying the alphabet “a, b, c, d, e, f, g, h, I, j, k, l, m, n, o, p, q, r, s, t, u, v, w, x, y, z,â€. She is looking around for a reaction from A. Once she see’s A smile she smiles and starts to sing a song “twinkle, twinkle little starâ€.
