Course Details:
This course will promote practitioners knowledge of development 0-19 years. It will examine the significance of nature and nurture in human development. It will explore how practitioners might support children and young people through the transitions they experience in their lives and the impact that puberty has on this.
Aims:
• To enable participants to widen their knowledge of child development including social, emotional, physical, intellectual and language development
• The significance of nature and nurture in human development
• Understand the developmental stages and transitions experienced by children
• Understand the factors that influence child development and how your work impacts on this
• Acquire a basic understanding of how babies and children form attachments
• Explore the theoretical perspective of youth and adolescence
• Discuss the impact of puberty on children and the social and emotional implications of this
• Identify ages and stages of development and how they link to behaviour and play • Recognise how children can be supported through adolescence
• Identifying risk factors within adolescence
• Examining the cultural perspective of young people
