Child Soldiers Essay
The use of child soldiers is an unpardonable crime. Anybody with the authority to make this decision must have the highest integrity and morals, and using child soldiers simply goes against my and any respectable persons conscious. Their morals would simply forbid them from using child soldiers. The definition of child soldier according to https://www.dosomething.org is “a Child soldiers are any children under the age of 18 who are recruited by a state or non-state armed group and used as fighters, cooks, suicide bombers, human shields, messengers, spies, or for sexual purposes”. A parent would never view their children like this. Children need to have positive encouragement and room for error. At the battle school there is no room for error. Mistakes are treated severely at the battle school. The main objective of the battle school is to produce the best soldier. This robs the children of their childhood and does not necessarily make them the best people but a good soldier. And one must really ask is the price worth it according to a study by CNN the average cost of deploying a soldier for a year costs around 850,000, assuming they train for 20 years and then work for 20 years we would be looking at a cost of 34,000,000 dollars for one soldier. This doesn't even count the money that will be payed for their veteran benefits. As of 2016 it costs around 10,000 dollars to put a pound of anything in space and we’ll say your average 7 year old weighs about 75 pound this is a cost of 750,000 dollars to bring them to the battle school. The massive costs of the battle school will be a tremendous cost to the taxpayer. And their is another factor we must look at the human cost. Many of the children put through the battle school may develop PTSD and other problems encountered by those in a high stress and violent environment. These children will be damaged for life. With these steep cost it makes me wonder if these cost are really worth
