Child Soldiers Persecution
Many Child soldiers are being placed in the middle of a war and should be granted amnesty. These children are being forced to fight. The warlords are using alcohol and drugs to make it so the children don’t know what they’re doing and are forcing the children to fight. They become brainwashed when they are consuming the drugs and alcohol. On the other hand, the child soldiers are committing the same crime as child criminals and should have the same consequence as them. Both criminals are killing so why don’t both of them suffer persecution? Children should not be exposed to this type of violence. If children are being put into battlefields at a young age, their future life may be filled with violence as well. As you can see, the lives of the child soldiers are at stake and we should give them amnesty so they can get the help that they need. Child Soldiers are any children under the age of eighteen who are recruited by an armed group for many dangerous purposes and most of these kids and teens are being forced to fight and are unaware of the crimes they’re committing. Text says, “The drugs and alcohol make the children become more compliant enabling them to commit atrocities which they never would have before” (Child Soldiers). This shows how child soldiers are not conscious of the crimes they are committing therefore, they shouldn’t be fully to blame. Also, “...you go out, you shoot people and you do whatever the commanders want you to do if not, they will kill you” (Ishmael Beah). Ishmael explains that child soldiers are basically being forced to do whatever the commanders or military leaders want them to do or else their life will be taken away. As you can see, child soldiers should be given amnesty because they’re unaware and being forced to commit these violent crimes.
