Your petition is not filed until you give it and any necessary documents to Family Court.

You must take your papers to the Family Court Clerk’s Office.

Contact the Family Court that granted the support order.

There are no filing fees in Family Court.

What happens after I file my petition?
After the petition is filed, the Family Court Clerk’s Office will give you a hearing date and you will get a copy of the petition. The summons will be attached.

The clerk will also give you a “Financial Disclosure Affidavit.”[->0] You must complete the financial affidavit before your hearing date.
