Over the years, population growth within major cities has placed concern on the safety of children – especially within western countries. Worldwide, numerous things have impacted the health and wellbeing of children; “Industrialization, population growth, poverty, environmental degradation, crime and war and the continuous dumping of toxic waste in to the atmosphere, the waterways and the soil have all played their part ”(Gleeson, B. S. N. (2006). The ‘Clean Energy Legislation (Carbon Tax Repeal) Act 2014’ aims to reduce the emissions of air pollution. By doing this it is also enhancing the quality of lives for children, by providing cleaner environments. This therefore reduces health effects of the pollution being emitted into the air.
3. In 2006 the Australian education ministers committed to the enactment of the ‘National Statements of Learning for Civics and Citizenship . This meant the all states and territories have now embedded into their curriculum goals to assist students obtain civics and citizenship knowledge and skills .
4. The ‘Child Wellbeing and Safety Act 2005’, was introduced into Victoria to provide community services to support children and families; to provide protection for children; to allow for the provision of children who have been charged with, or those who been found guilty of criminal offences; and to allow the continuation of The Children’s Court of Victoria as a specialist court when matters involve children . The introduction of this act allows for children to feel safer within the community.
