Childhood obesity is a major issue in the United States. Parents notice their kids getting fatter and fatter, but guess who they are they blaming? Themselves? No, they’re blaming others for their mistakes and poor choices. They’re blaming fast food industry, companies such as McDonalds and other common restaurants, many lawsuits are being filed for the same reason towards these companies for poor decisions parents make. Fast food industry shouldn’t be blamed for the major percent increase of childhood obesity over the years. I agree with Weintraub’s argument I believe he’s is trying to say that parents have so much influence in what their kids eat. Parents are so responsible for teaching healthy eating and exercise habits not only taught but to be are implemented in a child routine. My mother even though we didn’t wanted to eat fruits or vegetables, she would still put them in our lunches or for dinner. She would hardly take us out to eat to McDonalds or Burger King or any restaurant of that kind, but when she did it would be like a treat for us because didn’t have it constantly. In our society kids get away with sitting in front of a television for hours, playing games and parents are concern of that anymore. My mother wouldn’t let us do that, instead of a PlayStation or Xbox, my mother would buy us a ball and she would never see us in the house unless it was late out or raining. Well maybe my mother as well as father would let’s us play a few games before but we could not stay for hours on it and even now she would tell us to do something productive outside or study. Mothers just to try to get the easy way out and not realize what they’re actually doing for not implementing healthy and exercise habits to their kids, what they don’t realize is that with the decision they make by buying their kids fast food everyday they’re risking them to have health problems. McDonalds is only there to sell their food and make money,
