Vaccines not only protect yourself but also everyone else around you. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention …show more content…
vaccinations protect you by preparing your immune system to recognize and fight serious diseases. They protect you from very serious or even fatal diseases such as measles, polio, and whooping cough. There is a small population of people who are not able to get vaccinated. People who can’t receive vaccines rely on everyone else around them to get vaccinated instead. Vaccines protect innocent people who can’t get vaccinated such as pregnant women, newborn babies, or people who are very sick with cancer or other illnesses who have very low immune systems. Vaccines also help protect your future kids, and future generations because not getting vaccinated for serious diseases adds time of exposure to the viruses, before the kids are even able to get vaccinated.
Receiving vaccinations makes diseases that could potentially be fatal very preventable. The antigen in the vaccine is killed or disabled before it's used to make the disease so it can’t make you sick. A vaccinated person’s immune system attacks the harmless vaccine and prepares for invasions against the kind of antigen the vaccine contained. In this way, the person becomes immunized against the disease. When most of the community is immunized against a contagious disease, most members of the community are protected against that disease because there is a small opportunity for an outbreak. Some people argue that they received a vaccination, but still got sick. However this is a rare occurrence and if you look at the big picture, there are thousands of cases where vaccines have worked. More and more diseases that used to kill thousands of people are becoming very rare in the United States because of the increased use of vaccinations.
Vaccines are actually very safe.
A lot of people argue that many doctors and scientists are coming forward against vaccines, however this “many” is a very small portion of professionals. Others are very concerned with the ingredients used in these vaccinations and claim that they are not well tested and using natural treatments is a safer route. Some are concerned with the side effects of vaccinations but the chances of experiencing these side effects is tiny compared to the chance of getting very sick or even dying from the disease the vaccine protects you from. Others say that vaccinations cause autism. However the two have no correlation.just because apparent autism rates have increased at the same general time as vaccinations does not mean the two are automatically tied together. There have been many changes in our society in recent decades, all of which could have a tie to the increased autism
rates.
Vaccines are a vital part in today’s society. They have helped cure and prevent many deadly diseases. Vaccines are one of the greatest medical advances in history. In order for people to live a long and healthy life, and to prevent the outbreak of diseases it is important to receive vaccinations. In my opinion certain vaccinations should be required by law, because as citizens of the United States, it is important to protect our people.
