The importance of partnerships with parents for all aspects of the home-based childcare service
Fun day’s home-based childcare service
My name is Hana Peltanova and I’m Ofsted registered child-minder. I have been working with children for the last seven years as a nanny. I am married and have two children, a two year old daughter and five year old son. I am caring and committed to providing good quality childcare. I regularly update my training and keep up with childcare developments to provide an excellent childcare service for children and families. I live in 3 bedroom end of terrace house close to Selsdon Woods, Selsdon Recreation ground and local schools. I have no pets and I have no smoking policy on my premises.
I provide a caring, friendly and safe environment for have a variety of quality toys to support your child’s learning and development. Children have access to lovely and safe garden with fun outdoor toys and get opportunity to do gardening too. Children in our setting get chance to do different activities every day such as craft, cooking, sharing books, puzzles and games and interact with other children to build good social skills. Children in my care feel valued, loved and get equal opportunity to develop to their full potential.
I understand that some parents may be concerned about leaving their child with a child-minder for the first time so therefore, you will be given adequate settling time based on your child’s and your needs. You can also contact me during the day to find out how your child is doing. It is very important that we work in partnership because this will give your child stability and they will not become confused with different standards of behaviour and boundaries. I take individual approach to children as every child is different needs. As Parents you are the most important people in your child's life and the ones making decisions on their behalf and I will do my best to work closely with you in order to carry out your wishes for your child whenever it is possible.
I appreciate that as a working parent you will be in a rush to go to work in the mornings and in the evenings you may well be tired and need to go as quickly as possible, so please do not hesitate to contact me by email or text message if you would like to know more information about your child. I would also appreciate it if you could inform me if there are any changes to contact numbers for yourselves, including work and mobile numbers and those of your emergency contacts. As your child grows and develops issues will appear that are very important for me to discuss in order that we can work together resolve the issue.
If you wish me to include a special activity, which you celebrate, into my routine or if there is anything which you don’t want your child to be a part, please let me know. If I have any concerns about your child's behaviour, development, eating etc. I will share them with you and if necessary help you to seek support from outside agencies e.g. speech therapist, health visitor, dietician, etc. If you have any questions about the care which I provide please contact me.

I will be producing a welcome to my setting booklet. Within this I will outline some relevant legislation, if there are any language barriers this will be helpful to take home and use google translate or Babel fish for on line translation. During our first meeting I would talk about the children act 2004 and that I adhere to this by treating all children as individuals and with equal concern .I will treat all children and their families with respect and in a fair way, I will not discriminate and will have inclusive practices, I believe every child is different and special in their on right and would hope to help build their own sense of identity and self worth and in doing this encourage their own ideas, opinions and independence .The children will be kept safe by using health and safety guidelines, food hygiene, child protection and safeguarding. They will enjoy and achieve by taking part in learning activities suitable and enjoyable to them and achieving end results. I would show them my paediatric first aid certificate and also my personal emergency plan and first aid box. I would inform the parents that their information is kept in a secure area and remains confidential and it would only be shared between them, myself and Anjum, I would be clear that the only exception to this would be if I had such concerns that I would need to instigate the safeguarding procedure and sharing information with parents could jeopardise the safety of the child. I would need the parents to sign a photographic permission slip to keep on file. The early years foundation stage underpins all activities and routines I will be setting, I would explain it is a central part to the childrencare act 2006 and aims to help children learn and develop through their own individual needs and interests. For Anjum I would be taking her to groups ,so she could interact with others, I will develop a routine to help her feel safe and…

As we are a rather diverse society we find ourselves caring for many children with different backgrounds ethnicity religions and beliefs also social conscience can play a major role in how we want our children cared for. These all need to be respected and taken into account when caring for a child and before even accepting in the setting because if we are not able to meet these needs the parents must be informed as everything we do requires parental consent from physical care to observations and assessments of their child. This is one of the reasons we meet the prospective client to discuss needs and what is required before starting any settling in periods at the setting.…

There are three main types of childcare settings; these are voluntary, statutory and private. Private settings are those which are set up to make the owner a profit. A few examples of these are private day nurseries, childminders, nannies and work place nurseries. The setting I am focusing on is a private day nursery. The nursery opened 1997 and operates from a private home. It is open 49 weeks of the year, opening from 9-6 five days a week. The setting is able to have 24 children on site at one time aged between one and five. The setting ensures that all children are warmly welcomed and ensure a safe and stimulating environment. On their website they say their aim is to promote a “home from home atmosphere”. The staff meets the children’s care and learning needs. This is done by carefully planning activities to meet all children’s needs and abilities. It is important that the staff build a good bond with the children’s parents/ carers as this builds up the trust between them. This is done by the setting having a good communication between the parents and the setting; they use daily diary sheets, home link books, parent’s evenings and eating plans to ensure that each child’s needs are met.…

Any person that is going to be working your setting needs to have an up to date CRB check to ensure that they have no previous criminal convictions that could potentially pose a risk to the children and young people in your setting. Not only this but any person employed to work in your setting should have some sort of relevant qualification to be working with children and young people or at least be in training towards a qualification as parents and carers expect the best care for their children and this will only come from qualified professionals.…
