Children Competing in Beauty Pageants
Children Competing in Beauty Pageants Many young children like to participate in pageants. I personally think that putting children in pageants is good for them. They make lifelong friends, gain high self-esteem, and learn that you cannot always win and children need each of these skills. Sure, they could gain these by playing an instrument or a sport but I believe pageantry is the best way to go. Whether a boy or a girl, pageants can teach kids the true cycle of life. They learn what goes up, must come down by eating sweets and downing sugary drinks. They learn that you cannot win every pageant. Lastly, they learn that you must always try your best in no matter what you do. I think pageants build character in children. For example, a close friend of mine grew up doing pageants. Taylor is a beautiful, well rounded young woman. Now she may not have learned everything she knows from pageants, but she will never forget the things she did learn while competing in pageants. I claim that competing in beauty pageants are good for children. I strongly believe that they will learn lifelong skills by competing in these pageants. This topic is important to me because I believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. With that being said, I understand why people bash pageants the way they do, but I don’t think it is right. I do not think people should judge the parents and the pageants so hard because they have not experienced the wonders of the pageant world. I am standing up for this topic because I know I hate when people tell me that my sport, cheerleading, is not a sport. I am also standing up for this because I see absolutely no harm in children competing in pageants. They are just innocent human beings doing what they love. I know that there are two types of pageants; the two types are natural and glitz. Natural pageants show off the child’s natural beauty. The only makeup allowed in natural pageants is clear lip-gloss or chap stick. Glitz pageants
