DEMONTRATIVE COMMUNICATION PAPER Demonstrative communication is the nonverbal and unwritten communication that involves such things as facial expressions, which is the most common, tone of voice, and body language. Demonstrative communication happens between people who are communicating to each other and this happens through a sender and receiver process for communication. When a person is the sender, they are generally the speaker, and that person is trying to convey a message to a receiver to be processed. When a person is a receiver, they are the one who will be receiving the information and processing that information from the sender. The sender is the speaker and the receiver is the person listening. Demonstrative communication is involved when the sender is speaking and by acknowledgement of the words they are trying to communicate to the receiver, they will see the receiver respond by nonverbal or unwritten communication usually with the receiver nodding his or her head, “yes” or “no”, or making eye contact, having their body turned to the sender, and making accurate facial expressions in either agreement or disagreement or confusion as to what the sender is speaking of. An example of this would be; A woman goes to the post office to mail a package, the man behind the counter greets the woman and listens to her as she tries to explain that she has two packages, in which both need to go to different locations, while listening the man makes eye contact and shakes his head “yes”, because he understands the woman’s request and she explains to him that one needs to go to Atlanta, GA and the other needs to go to Jackson, MS. The man takes the boxes and knows exactly what box needs to go to Atlanta, and which box needs to go to Jackson. The man demonstrated nonverbal communication by making eye contact and listening to the instructions for the boxes and knew without having to ask again where the boxes needed to go and processed all the senders information
