According to Document A, China’s population had increased when the policy began. In 1920 the population was around 600 million and in 1980 which began the policy was estimated around 900 million. She was an only-child to a college professor and shopping mall manager. According to Xiao, “I used to cut myself on my wrist after being yelled at by my mom and dad because I didn’t know who I should talk to or turn to.” This quote perfectly explains how her life was miserable because she was an only-child. Another thing that was stated in this document is “An internet survey of 7,000 Chinese only children between the ages of 15 and 25 found that 58 percent admitted to being lonely.” It's not good for depression to start just because they don't have a sibling or nicer parents. In the background Essay tells us the positives and negatives of this policy. In paragraph five states “China's one-child policy limits Chinese couples to one child each.
