Term Paper Requirements and Guidelines
Be sure to work on the essay continuously throughout the term, as a culmination of observation and reflective learning. As you learn a new concept of interpersonal communication, incorporate the concept into your project.
The final term paper should contain no less than 6 pages and exhibit proper APA formatting.

You can choose one of the following prompts:
1. View a minimum of two commercial films (either current or older) that depict friendship. You will probably need to watch each film more than once. At least one film should focus on friendship between women (The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Sex and The City Movie, Thelma and Louise, Beaches), and at least one should focus on friendship between men (Wayne’s World ,City Slickers, Dead Poets’ Society, Talk to Her, About Schmidt, Sideways, Grumpy Old Men). The remaining films may portray friendships of women, men, or women and men (e.g., Old School, My Girl, Circle of Friends, Toy Story). Your report should identify similarities and differences in friendship communication for women and men. Make sure that your analysis incorporates information in the textbook, including different styles of experiencing and expressing closeness (closeness in the doing, closeness in dialogue, non-verbal communication, attachment styles)
2. Choose any of the following films as an item for analysis. (See chart.) In the paper, you should apply what you learned in class to evaluate the strengths and limitations of the communicative choices the characters made as well as offer concrete recommendations for improving their communication.
