He enjoyed singing at his church choir and was inspired by such musical artists as Stevie Wonder, Sam Cooke, and Michael Jackson. He also showed off his dance skills by imitating the dance moves of Usher, another one of his idols.

Tina Davis was the first to discover Chris; she was working for Def Jam Recordings at the time. “The first thing that hit me was his unique voice,” Davis told Billboard magazine. “I thought ‘This kid is a star.’” Davis ended up becoming his manager and helped him make a deal with Jive Records, which had developed other young acts like; Britney Spears and ‘N Sync and is home to other hip-hop and R&B stars like R. Kelly, Usher, and Kanye West. At the time of the deal, Brown was only 15 years old.
Chris’s album was released in November 2005 and quickly found its way to the charts. Working with well known producers and songwriters, he had a number one hit with “Run It!” The track featured another artist, rapper Juelz Santana. Dating and girls are mainly what his songs are about. He has sometimes been compared to Michael Jackson because of his many talents as a singer and dancer.
