Christianity Vs. Islam

Christianity and Islam are the two largest religions in the world today. The religions share a few similarities, but contrast with one another in the areas of belief, tradition, and culture. Both religions proclaim to be monotheistic, serving one god, but their faith in whom the supreme power is contrasts. Each religion has its own set of principles that guide the believers in everyday life. Even though both religions originated in the Middle East, the tradition and culture of these two groups are drastically different. The two largest religions in the world, Christianity and Islam, share some similarities, yet there are vast differences in the beliefs, traditions, and culture of each.
Islamics and Christians differ vastly in their religious beliefs, but share small similarities. The significant distinction between Christians and Islamics is the belief in the identity of the supreme power. Christians
Islamic and Christian traditions differ from one another. In both religions worship is an essential part of the faith. Christians worship with fellow believers in a church, but Islamics worship in mosques. A holy book is a key part of worship and faith in both religions. For Christians, the Bible is important for understanding and studying God’s will for ones life and the history of the religion. Islamics use the Quran for instruction and worship. The Christian faith and Islamic faith each have distinct traditions that are special to the religion. Christians possess traditions dating back to the biblical times including marriage, baptism, and communion. For Islamics, prayer five times a day facing the city of Mecca, the city which they consider holy, is essential. One of the oldest traditions of the Islamic faith is the hajj, which is the pilgrimage to the city of Mecca. Although tradition is an important aspect in religion, the culture of a group of people is essential to understanding and relating to the
