For many people the road to adulthood is not easy and can be challenging . Fortunately, I have been able to overcome obstacles in my life and always believe things will work out in the end. This is attributed to my dedication, support system, and my faith.
I am Christopher Charles, an 18-year-old athlete, attending Woodland High School located in Stockbridge, Georgia. I have played on the football team at Woodland since ninth grade. My passion for football began with playing on recreation teams at the age of five. My childhood days on the football field were my most fond memories of my childhood. Even at that young age, I was driven to win and I always tried to do my best to help …show more content…
my team win the game. That same dedication and drive to win is what has brought me to this place. Understanding there is no I in TEAM, everyone must do their part to inspire each other and do whatever it takes to win. I look forward to bringing this same dedication to my Morehouse College Maroon Tigers Football Team.
While my childhood days were filled with many celebrations, I also had disappoints to overcome.
My parents' divorce was very difficult for me. I had to focus on my future and not let anything block what I plan to accomplish. My teams have always been a great support system for me when things got tough. My mother always told me if I get a scholarship for college if I tried hard on the field and in my classes. My coaches and teachers where also a big part of my road to becoming a Morehouse Man.
Approximately a month ago I received a call from Coach Freeman that changed my life. He introduced himself as the head football coach at Morehouse College and went on to say, "I looked at your film, and I would like for you to play football at Morehouse." I called my mother and quietly said, "Ma I got a call from Morehouse." I was not sure if I wanted to attend Morehouse College and become a Maroon Tiger. But, when I went on the official visit my perspective began to change.
Visiting the Morehouse College campus and meeting the football coaches, college administrators and Morehouse College football players had a positive impact on me. Each of them stressed the importance of receiving a quality education. Consequently, they informed us that while playing on the football team was a great accomplishment, receiving a quality education is
vital!
I received several awards throughout my years of playing football. Nevertheless, my greatest accomplishment is receiving an athletic scholarship to play football at Morehouse College. On February 1st a day before my birthday, I signed to play football at Morehouse College. That day my life changed! I felt a sense of pride when I heard people say "Christopher is becoming a Morehouse man"!
It is an honor to become a Morehouse Man!
