Although it is evident that Mr. Boone, loves, protects and cares about Christopher, he sometimes finds it hard to cope and understand Christopher’s behavior but strives to maintain a stable relationship. "‘OK, maybe I don't tell the truth all the time. God knows, I try, Christopher, God knows I do…. And I want to know that I'm trying, I really am’”. (Haddon, 2003, Page 150). This quote shows the determination of his father, trying to make him understand his reason for his actions. We learn that Judy Boone, Christopher’s mother, is impatient but loving and has trouble handling the pressure of Christopher’s condition. Evidence of this is shown when she states, “But I said I couldn't take it anymore and eventually he got really cross…”, (Haddon, 2003, Page 134) referring to Christopher’s behavior. Although it is shown that she appears to be impatient at times, as the novel progresses we learn that continued to write forty- three letters in the span of 2 years to Christopher without a…

It is mere human nature to want to determine a label for all species and specimens of life. It satisfies a deeply rooted human need for meaning to describe another person, place, or thing in a crisp and decisive manner. This is precisely why Chris McCandless is such a subject of outrage among some, but also inspiration among others. Chris McCandless cannot be defined clearly. One can only go as far as defining what Chris is not, just like Krakauer in the prompt.…

Christopher McCandless was an intelligent young man who was deeply influenced by the material he read. As a scholar, he was well-read and developed his morals and beliefs based on what authors he connected with. Into The Wild by Jon Krakauer tells the story of McCandless’ early life, and then his subsequent death after his journey in the Alaskan wilderness. McCandless’ motivation is often questioned, as to the outside world he seemed to have an easy life. He was an intelligent student, having excelled in high school and then he went on to double major in history and anthropology at Emory University. After graduating, he donated most of his savings to charity and set out of his journey. One of the authors that McCandless connected to was Henry…

She has the best intentions for Christopher. A mother always wants what is best for her child. In one of the letters, Judy explains the reason she leaves Christopher. She explains that he threw a cutting board, which broke her toes. Afterward, Mr. Boone blames her for losing her temper. While she recovered she saw how much more calmly Christopher acted around him than with her. She made the decision that Christopher would be better off without her in the house. She writes, “Christopher, I never meant to hurt you. I thought that what I was doing was for the best for all of us” (Haddon 109). Judy did not leave Christopher for selfish reasons. She thinks that leaving him is the best thing to do. However, leaving was not an easy task for Judy because she loves Christopher but doubts her abilities to take care of him. She felt unable to deal with Christopher’s fits and tantrums. Autism Bedfordshire says, “As they grow up, the children become too strong to handle if they throw a tantrum. Parents become isolated and depressed and many would reach breaking point without help.” Judy loses her temper nearly every time there is a problem. Before leaving it is clear that she is overwhelmed by the situation. Caring for children is difficult, but taking care of children with autism creates more challenges for a parent. Judy has tried to be a better mother, but she realizes the uselessness of her efforts. In the case of…
