In Hibbert’s narrative “Redcoats and Rebels” the British troops come toe to toe with the Colonial rebels. He accurately depicts history from the British point of view which is largely overlooked in American grade schools, where we are taught history in a rather biased way seeing that we are the victors of the war. He adds insight by adding key pieces of information
lost to the public, piecing together a theory on why it happened and not just retelling the same account once more. Hibbert himself is biased on the account of him being an Englishman writing about British history. Hibbert’s goal in producing this novel was to show and establish the British loyalist’s viewpoint on the Revolutionary war, he does this through his analysis on the attempts to accomplish a unifying strategy against the rebellious Colonists while managing to also discuss confusion at an ideological level and the level of inaptness as well .
