Chronocle of a Death Foretold Pastiche
Miles’ Day “Miles come eat your food before it gets cold!” Alyssa Baker yelled from the kitchen waking me from my dream. I groggily get up from my bed and headed towards the bathroom. The shower was on and I assumed the witch was using it. I reached for the knob and realized that it was locked, I knocked on the door. “Olivia I need to use the bathroom” I mumbled and got no answer. “Olivia!” I shouted. Not sure if she could hear through the shower, I made one last attempt at kicking the door; still nothing. Sometimes I liked her but also hated her. I stumbled to the kitchen still a little tired. “Please don’t wake me up unless the bathroom is free.” I told her. She turned around and glared at me. “Well maybe if you didn’t sleep until 3 in the afternoon the bathroom would be open for you” She remarked. “Well we can’t all be as perfect as you Alyssa Baker” I retorted. She stopped with the dishes and sighed. “You can call me mom whenever you’d like Miles.” She replied with a snort. “Whenever I like” I muttered. One of the few things I do enjoy about Alyssa Baker is her amazing food. I decided to grab a glass of milk then I took a bite out of today’s breakfast. Of course the best pancakes I’ve ever tasted. “I’m going to stay the night at Andrew’s house.” I told her. “Do you want me to make you something to eat?” She asked. I thought about the question for a second. “Sure.” I mumbled. I finished my breakfast and went to see if Olivia was done with the bathroom. From her now closed door I could tell she was out; time to start the day.

After a short walk to Andrew Goodwin’s street I finally found myself at his door. Three loud knocks and a minute of waiting I pulled out my phone to call him. “Andrew?” I asked. “Yeah man, I forgot to tell you that my mother needed me to pick her up from work.” He explained. “I’ll be home in an hour or two.” He assured. “All right man, just call me whenever you get back.” I said as I hung up. I Guessed it was time to go back home and

While lying on the grass in the front yard, I imagined the exciting night ahead. Before long, Taylor and his girlfriend, Kara, arrived and picked me up. Almost immediately, I stood up and sauntered in my Duke sweatshirt and basketball shorts over to their car. I jumped into the backseat. Immediately, I was assaulted with the strong smell of perfume that had been sprayed inside the car because it belonged to Kara. Tonight instead of driving, she decided to let Taylor drive illegally without a license. As we drove off to Erik’s house, the rendezvous for tonight’s “Goatman” adventure, we saw a police officer had just pulled a car over. As we drove by, we breathe easier and relaxed because we didn’t see any more cops on the way.…

I thought about the impact it could have on my life. I was still determined to lose the title of ‘Sophia’s killer.’ It took me a couple of days of thinking, but I had finally decided to call the number. Some man answered the call, his name was Edward. Edward Churchill. Our first session was the following day. I would meet him at a different location every day at 2:00. Whether it was the park, a restaurant, or the zoo… Mr. Edward would always arrive on time and eager to fulfill me with positivity…

It all began with a simple phone call one night after dinner. “Joe,” my father hollered up the stairs, “it’s for you. I was tired and had looked forward to a nice and quiet evening at home, not another stupid adventure with Jackie.…

I simply beg for something to eat. I’ve been hungry for several days. The persons I asked before were all unwilling to do me a favour. If you don’t help me, I deem, I will soon starve to death.” answered the trampe in a mournful voice.…

It was a sleepy summer’s day and all I could think about was getting home and relaxing. The sun was gleaming down on us and glistened in our eyes as it reflected through all the droplets of water hanging off the shade cloth. The end of lunch bell finally rang and we all trudged to the lockers to get our books for fifth period. Food Technology. I only chose that subject because it was a bludge. And I guess everyone else there had the same idea as me, because they didn’t seem all that bright. We all sat down and Miss Kemp had that familiar look of sadness in her eyes when she saw it was us that she had to teach. The sky turned two shades darker as clouds began to blanket the sky. I sat up the back in my usual seat next to a quiet girl, like me. The group of trouble makers sat to the left of us and the girls who actually wanted to learn how much flour was needed to bake a cake sat up the front. To the left sat the stoners, staring straight out the window, not touching their books for the whole lesion.…

At one-thirty in the afternoon, Carolee Mitchell was running the vacuum cleaner, or she would have heard the first sirens and looked out. After the first, there weren’t any others. The calling voices, even the number of dogs barking, could have been students on their way back to school, high-spirited in the bright, cold earliness of the year. Thinking back on the sounds, Carolee remembered a number of car doors being slammed, that swallow of air and report which made her smooth her hair automatically even if she wasn’t expecting anyone. But what caught her eye finally was what…
