I have grown up in church all my life. I have been involved in Cubbies, TNT, AWANAS and youth group! But my walk with Jesus didn't really start until I was in 7th grade. I went to Falls Creek that summer for church camp and I gave my life to christ. I started noticing my relationship with him started growing stronger. Then my life took a turn after my 8th-grade year of school my Dad had a stroke and at the time it was once again time to go to Falls Creek for church camp my Dad was in the hospital in the ICU. My mom sat my sister and I down and said if we went to church camp my dad probably wasn't going to be alive anymore when we got back. I didn't want to go,but my sister convinced me too. I don't remember much of that week except Tuesday

The Knights of Columbus was founded by an Irish-American Catholic priest, The Venerable Father Michael J. McGivney in New Haven, Connecticut. He gathered a group of men from St. Mary's parish for an organizational meeting on October 2, 1881 and the Order was incorporated under the laws of the U.S. state of Connecticut on March 29, 1882. Though the first councils were all in that state, the Order spread throughout New England and the United States in subsequent years. The primary motivation for the Order was to be a mutual benefit society. As a parish priest in an immigrant community, McGivney saw what could happen to a family when the breadwinner died and wanted to provide insurance to care for the widows and orphans left behind. He himself…

Picture this: you’re riding in a cold and wet train car with only a small understanding of where you’re going. You have no money, only the clothes on your back and the almost completely deteriorated shoes you are wearing. Your only goal is to try and make it to the place where your parents are, the land of opportunity, the United States of America. You’re traveling with a few other people who have the same goal as you, and you know that if you slip up and fall behind even the littlest bit or if you fall ill or get injured, they won’t think twice about leaving you behind. Your heart is racing because you’re trying to be as stealthy as possible so you won’t get caught and be sent back to where you came from. You’re unsure how the future will…

I had an amazing opportunity to volunteer at the Salvation Army building on 4th Street, San Jose. The Salvation Army was founded by General William Booth and started in 1865. Since then it has grown to almost 1,150,666 members. It runs through the Protestant Church and they believe in the Holiness Movement. As of currently its headquarters is in London and they can be located in 127 different countries. The reasoning of its name is because it consists of officers, soldiers and adherents who are known as Salvationists. This means to bring salvation to those in need and to the poor.…

I am Ethan Ritz and a current 9th grader at Milken. For Service Learning this year, I was a Counselor in Training at Camp VBS for two weeks of the summer. A meaningful experience I had while being a CIT was playing with the kids in the pool. They loved the attention and the activities we played. I would give them a piggy back ride around the pool and if they wanted would throw them in the air. This always put a huge smile on their faces. One kid even said, “That was awesome!” when I threw him in the air. I loved making each kids day at camp even better.…

Over the centuries since Jesus walked on the earth, there have been many beliefs and doctrines that have been conceived. Many of these have not established their foundation in God’s Word, the Bible. This has caused a descent from how Christ initially established the Church those many years ago. Many religions today would claim to be the true Church of Jesus Christ. However, most have turned from Bible truths, and are therefore not the true Church of Jesus Christ. The Mormon Church is not the Church of Jesus Christ because they do not hold to the beliefs that the Bible is the complete, inerrant Word of God, salvation is by faith alone, and Jesus Christ has always been God.…

I met Meghan on a double date with my boyfriend and his best friend Corey. We all went to dinner and then were going to go see a movie afterwards. The conversation started because Matt and I asked her and Corey if they would be ok with us giving thanks for our meal. She was not surprised we wanted to pray, but was surprised that it was not just the generic “God is good, God is great, thank you for the food we ate.”…

I moved to the Atlanta area due to a promotion with my company. The position required frequent travel every other week. Initially, while my family was still at our home in Florida, awaiting sale, I felt it better to travel as much as possible to gain as much experience as imaginable on the road to not take as much time away from my family when they arrive. I was fortunate to travel with team members and to learn from each of them. One particular guy, Mike, is whom I spent the most time. Mike and I developed a friendship and still stay in touch today. Mike showed me the ropes of the job; we traveled to the wine country and visited San Francisco together on one weekend in California. Mike knew I was a believer and at times asked different questions about my faith. There was no five-question interaction or a special time of sharing the gospel with him. Mike began questioning his quality of life. He was searching for answers and meaning to life. Just a simple request; would you and Linda come with us to church? Mike started coming to our church. In a few weeks he accepted Christ. In a short time later his wife Linda accepted Christ and they serve Jesus in St.…

For as long as I could remember, church three times a week was a way of life for me. From a very young age, bible scriptures were instilled in me, almost like affirmations that were supposed to wash over me and make sense...They didn't. I learned that God didn't make any mistakes, not to question what I was taught, that God designated me male at birth for a reason. As I got older and began to embark on my gender journey, The scriptures I was taught no longer seemed applicable to my situation. They felt hollow and meaningless to me, because there weren't any specific passages on…
