Cinderella Movie Vs History
Cinderella was a Disney classic film made by Walt Disney in 1950. The Disney version of the Cinderella film was based on the protagonist of the French version of the tale by Charles Perrault, “Cinderella”, written in 1698. The movie is based upon a girl, a shoe, and a prince. The point of the movie was to see a beaten down, and abused young woman become a beautiful princess to a handsome prince. Despite her troubled past, she did not let it stop her ambitions.
The fairy tale of Cinderella has been produced in movies many times like Ever After (1998), A Cinderella Story (2004), and Another Cinderella Story (2008). In the 1950 film Cinderella didn’t meet her prince until she was at the ball. To fit into the modern world, in the recent 2015 film Cinderella met her prince in the woods horseback riding while he was on a moose hunt. In this contemporary version, Cinderella captivated him just by being herself, her authentic self. Although he conceals his royal identity it grabs viewers’ attention. Was it faith? Or was it a coincidence? It made you think about what would happen next. Also, in this modern version we see a different side of the stepmother. We learn what made her become so evil. We understand she was growing in envy. This version widens the audience because it’s a different message. The message is not about just finding a prince. The overall message is keeping faith, overcoming adversity and making your dreams come true.
Overall Cinderella both the old and new film were great. The modern Cinderella film was made to give life. It was made for this era and to feel and connect more with the storyline. Kenneth made sure he changed the style and approach of things for the viewers. Although if he didn’t step up and change the approach for today’s viewers it wouldn’t have affected much it made it more interesting. He changed certain plots and made you think about what would happen next. Also, He went into more detail about characters and focused on the main characters the old film failed to do.
