There are several different buses on a motherboard. Each one has a unique function. Each of the buses are used to control and alter many applications and functionality of the computer. These buses control so much information in the computer that not a single bus can take the place of two or more. There is simply too much information that would cause the bus to overload and could short out.…

WAN is merely a collection of LANs. The difference between a LAN and a WAN are very simple. A LAN is owned by, controlled and managed by a single organization or person. On the other hand, WANs are not owned by one organization. They exist under collective or distributed management and ownership. Both of the networks can be found within the home. Usually a LAN is connected to a WAN (the internet) through a broadband modem which connects to an ISP. Other well known, more recent networks are WLAN, MAN, CAN, STORAGE AREA NETWORK, and SYSTEM AREA NETWORK.…

The operation is simple as collection of bridges in a local area network (LAN) can be depicted as a graph whose nodes are bridges and LAN segments (or cables), and whose edges are the interfaces connecting the bridges to the segments. To break loops in the LAN while maintaining access to all LAN segments, the bridges collectively compute a spanning tree. The spanning tree is not necessarily a minimum cost spanning tree. A network administrator can reduce the cost of a spanning tree, if necessary, by altering some of the configuration parameters in such a way as to affect the choice of the root of the spanning tree. The spanning tree that the bridges compute using the Spanning Tree Protocol can be determined using the following rules. The example network at the right, below, will be used to illustrate the rules.…

A computer network is a group of computers connected to each other electronically. This means that the computers can "talk" to each other and that every computer in the network can send information to the others. Usually, this means that the speed of the connection is fast - faster than a normal connection to the Internet. One of the basic type of computer networks include the Local Area Network.…
