    The beautiful scenery of American suburbs persuades us that suburbs are cleaner than cities. Since greenery is more visually attractive than brownness filled with mobs of people and congestion, this claim must be true. Well, is it? Edward Glaeser and David Owen attempt to bust this myth through their works, Triumph of the City and Green Metropolis. They defy the myth and claim that suburbs are actually main culprits for increased carbon footprints in the United States. They attempt to provide compelling arguments of why and how cities are much more energy sufficient than suburbs. I support their ideas, because I also believe we can protect the environment more effectively in close proximity than wide sprawl from my own experiences of living in both Chicago and its northwest suburb. Urban lifestyle is a key to conservation. We must make necessary efforts to accept this counterintuitive fact and ultimately bring ourselves back to cities to sustain our planet earth.…

    The first scene in City of God starts with an extreme close-up of someone sharpening a knife on a black rock. The camera “flickers” or cuts back and forth from a black screen to the knife repeatedly. This makes it hard to see the knife but easier to hear the diegetic sound of the blade running across the rock. At this point (30 seconds into the film) the audience does not know why the blade is being sharpened. As the scene develops further, cross-cutting and extreme close-up shots are used. Many of the shots seem to be preparation for a meal. We see close-up shots of carrots being peeled and the camera crosscuts to a chicken being killed and plucked.     The novel Divided City by Theresa Breslin Is set in gloomy Glasgow, Scotland, in the recent times. The story is aimed at teenagers and adults alike and concerns the asylum seeking problems and associated racism towards illegal immigrants who had arrived in Glasgow at this time. I really enjoyed this novel as it was good to see each supporters of Rangers and Celtic, be such good friends. Even in today's modern time, it's refreshingly different to see the 'old firm' barrier being obliterated, with the two pals showing total trust and friendship with each other, despite their religious differences.
