Civil disobedience is not abiding by the laws that are placed, with an immense purpose to justify one’s action and safety in the nation. The government enforces new laws daily that impacts the country’s citizens, and there are those citizens that believe these laws need to be altered or removed permanently. As a result, the people share their voice through actions, and these actions can range from bloody brutality to peaceful reform. Overall, these civil disobedience is a genuine positive change to a certain extent. Civil disobedience is only adequate to an extent. The essay Civil Disobedience, written by Henry David Thoreau has much to do with Thoreau’s own experiences than a general perception of people as a whole. Civil disobedience, or refusing to obey the law to protest peacefully, has been one of the most effective ways of changing government policies. In many cases throughout history, fairer societies have been created after laws were challenged. For example, American colonists protested against British taxes by refusing to pay them. This eventually led to the founding of the United States. Colonists went against the law to improve their way of living and end an unfair tax. They were able to initiate change and spark…

Civil disobedience is a key part of the rights that all Americans now have. Civil disobedience allows for the people to take a stand against rules and regulations that they do not agree with. From movements such as ending slavery, women voting, and racial equality, civil disobedience was a major factor in getting the attention of those who had the position to make a change. One of the most convincing I heard is that civil disobedience can be disrupting to the government and day to day life. Even one of the most used examples of civil disobedience, marching, can potentially have negative effects. People can’t get to their jobs or simply do what they need to do. Sometimes it even causes violence. Disobedients may not participate directly in acts of violence, but there are often unforeseen effects, and violence is one of them. This could have the unintended result of the very thing being protested against being made…

Civil Disobedience is a way of getting the message of the silent majority to the few in power who could act on these messages who however have ignored the majority of people against Trump and his politics. The protest and march at Grand Rapids, MI is a good example of a peaceful protest. Plenty of people there are immigrants, refugees, veterans, and residents. One veteran, Kyle Hendrickson, held a sign that said “not why I served” and when interviewed he said that he was in the air force and this is not the America he fought for and could no longer be silent. These protests are perfect examples of how civil disobedience can be good for society, even if many protesters are jailed and are required to enter and proceed through the legal system that will not stop the protests because they all believe what president Trump is doing is wrong and they are willing to sacrifice their time, records, and money for what they believe is…
