abstract
Promotion of renewable energy sources is a widely adopted policy since they are accepted to positively contribute to ensure the security of energy supply, mitigate CO2 emissions and meet the increasing energy demand. In parallel with that global thought, wind energy has been a hot topic in Turkish energy agenda although the share of wind energy in total energy resources of the country is still low. In this framework, the policies and applications regarding wind energy in Turkey are examined, the short-term and long-term priorities are evaluated and some suggestions are provided in this paper.

The journey to find an alternate source of energy that is in accordance with past events and current trends in technology has introduced new methods for human beings to care for the environment and to protect earth’s natural resources. An alternate source of energy that this paper will be covering is wind power. This is not a new discovery but overtime it took a fresh and better tactic. History will reveal that hundreds of years ago, windmills were already use in Europe in wind farms with wind turbines in order to gain as much as wind energy as possible. This is an effective method in producing the maximum wind energy; however, there are pros and cons that one has to be aware with in this kind of alternative source of energy.…

Living in Florida, we are one of the top users in electricity, due to hot summers, keeping plants and grass green and so much more. I know some some do not see this as a problem, but what are we to do when oil wells and coal run out? This is why it is important to look at renewable energy such as, wind energy. Wind energy is a resource we can never run out of. A study at Stanford University found that if we were to harness one fifth of the earth’s available wind energy we could produce seven time as much electricity needed to run the world today. Not only that, but when…

Today, wind energy is very popular in the U.S., Spain, Denmark, and India but is mostly used in Germany. Thanks to technological advances, wind energy is the fastest growing energy source in the world. Wind power is safe for the environment and does not produce any atmospheric emission or greenhouse gases. Since wind depends on the sun, it is a form of solar energy. As long as the…

It cannot be denied that for some reasons, such as the lower installation cost of the renewable energy technologies, investment cost efficiency, and cut down on cost of mitigating climate changes, renewable energy could be more beneficial than gives drawbacks. But those who are agreed that develop renewable energy is cheap fail to consider the facts. A research conducted by Turkenburg (n.d) explained that currently the development of renewable energy cannot be equated with other energy sources, for example nuclear energy that has been developed for decades as most of the renewable…

Here is Turkey 's primary Energy consumption by resources ( % ) , end of 2010. In this graph we see the substantial amount of oil and gas consumption. This two sources together reach the 61.6 % of total Turkey 's energy consumption. Unfortunately, Turkey uses renewable sources not efficiently, usage of wind-solar energy sources and hydro power cannot not exceed even 20% of total Turkey 's energy consumption. Turkey actually has a great underground to use renewable energy sources because of her weather conditions but actually facilities for usage of these resources did not developed enough yet. On the other hand, we…
