Civil liberties are more important than civil rights for these reasons. First, our lives are better when the government doesn’t interfere. Second, civil liberties protects us from our government from causing us harm and last civil liberties makes civil rights possible.

One is an individual right (civil rights) and the other is a protection granted to all those in the country (civil liberties). For example up until the civil rights movement there was equal but separate rights. Both black and white people could go to school as individual right but separated from one other which was improper. Then there was Rosa Parks were she really made the civil rights movement when she refused to give up her seat to a white individual to stand up for her rights, which then led to the Montgomery Bus Boycott, that explains “in which African Americans refused to ride the city buses in Montgomery, Alabama, to protest segregated seating” (history). The government had to be limit in power in order to prevent it from becoming an anarchy place to live. Without these rights, government would control everyone and everything. Would be like living in a place where would be violated day after day, for no good reason. In other words, we would be harassed by our government just how other people in other countries are still harass by their government. For example: religion, for this example Christians and Muslims which according the Catholic News Agency are “the world’s two largest religious groups, Christians and Muslims, continued to be harassed in the most countries, and there was a notable increase in the number of countries in which Jews and adherents of folk religions were harassed” the Pew Research Center said in the Feb. 26 report on trends in religion-related restrictions and hostilities”. Christians suffered harassment in about “102 countries” (CNA). It said thought that religion harassment has come “down just slightly” (CAN).
