Civil War and Reconstruction era was it more liberty During the Civil War and Reconstruction Era, was one of the most historical moments in the United States American, which last from 1860-1877. There been serious argument if the Civil War and Reconstruction era was it more economic freedom, political freedom, religious freedom or social freedom on liberty? In 1860, Abraham Lincoln was elected to be president of the United States, he had idea that slavery should be abolish, which let people feared that their way of life was in jeopardy. During that time 11 southern states opposed to this idea of slavery should be abolish, which lead to the creation of what is known as the Confederacy. Shortly after his Abraham Lincolns victory, and the abolishment of Slavery, Confederate forces attacked the U.S. military installation at Fort Sumter in South Carolina in 1861, all because they don’t want slavery to be gone. Which lead to the Civil War. During the Civil War was one of the earliest true industrial wars, which were railroads, the telegraph, steamships, mass produced weapons. In 1863 president Lincoln began to think about reconstruction and offered a plan to allow states to begin to return to the Union in exchange for relatively mild concessions. Following Union victories at Gettysburg, Vicksburg and Chattanooga, Abraham Lincoln hope that least some Confederate states were willing to rejoin the Union if generous term were offered. Lincoln issued a proclamation of Amnesty and Reconstruction which stated that those states would take an oath of loyalty to the Union and agree to emancipation might be readmitted.
As time passed confederate states came under the control of the Union army, Abraham Lincoln setup reconstructed government in several southern states during the war, which Tennessee, Arkansas, and Louisiana. Following Lincolns assassination in April 1865, President Andrew Johnson tried to follow Lincoln policies and appointed new governors in summer of 1865. Johnson quickly declared that the war goals of national unity and the ending of slavery had been achieved, so that reconstruction was completed. Reconstruction addressed how the eleven seceding states would regain self-government and be reseated in Congress, the civil status of the former leaders of the Confederacy, and the Constitutional and legal status of freedmen, especially their civil rights and whether they should be given the right to vote. Violent controversy erupted throughout the South over these issues

There been issue that most people think that slavery was the only cause of the Civil War. Because of slavery, African Americans were discriminated against in the United States. In reality, southern slaves were often treated better than some northern factory workers. Because of the movement to stop slavery the abolitionist movement southerners concluded that all or most northerners were against them and wanted to destroy their way of life. The northern economy was based on industrial things. Textile factories, forges, and general manufacturing are just a few examples of what held up the northern economy. The south used slaves to do manual labor. Southerners didn't really attempt to stop this when northerners tried to stop slavery. Most southerners didn't even own slaves, they worked the fields themselves. Southerners didn't try to destroy the northern way of life, but northerners did attempt to destroy theirs. During the reconstruction, one of the most turbulent and controversial eras in American history, began during the Civil War and ended in 1877. It witnessed America first experiment in interracial democracy. Just as the fate of slavery was central to the meaning of the Civil War, so the divisive politics of Reconstruction turned on the status the former slaves would assume in the reunited nation. Reconstruction remains relevant today because the issues central to it. The federal government in protecting citizen’s rights and the possibility of economic and racial justice are still unresolved into this day. During this century, reconstruction was widely viewed as an era of corruption and misgovernment, supposedly caused by allowing black to take part in politics. This interpretation helped to justify the South system of racial segregation and denying the vote to blacks, which survived into the e1960. A new research and profound changes in American race relations, historians view that Reconstruction far more favorably, as time genuine progress for former slaves and the South as a whole. To all Americans, the Reconstruction was a time of fundamental social economic, and political change on liberty. During that the overthrow of Reconstruction left to future generations to troublesome problem of racial justice.
