The most noticeable conflict is between Ralph and Jack for leadership. Ralph and Jack are both competitive. Jack is aiming for glory and being the leader or the boss. Jack was on the hill and he was trying to hunt a pig, and he said “ I am going to … I was choosing a place, next time!” This shows that he only wants to have a superior time. Piggy, also known as the fat, or smart boy has great ideas for survival. Yet, the boys did not listen to him. “ ‘ You’re talking too much fatty,’ said Jack Merridew. ‘Shut up fatty.’ Laughter arose, ” (21). The boys take Piggy as a joke. For instance, when the boys were having a meeting by the beach, Piggy held the conch to speak and he said that they should find a way to improve the probability of them being rescued. However, none of the boys listen, but afterwards when Ralph held the conch he said that they have to make a fire to signal any passing ships they reply by saying yes. Although, Piggy has a great deal to offer the boys on survival, they do not listen to him. The civilization in all of the boys has fled, it is buried inside of them. They see him as a frail, and puny boy who has no knowledge to help them. They judged a clever boy by his appearance. They despise Piggy and they refuse all of his thoughts and
