Course Description
This course examines the critical attributes of leadership in the criminal justice system. The importance of effective and competent leadership is examined. This course provides students with a conceptual and theoretical basis upon which to evaluate criminal justice administration and management.
Prerequisites: CJ 300
Learning Objectives
After completing this course students will be able to:
1 Identify the internal dynamics within a large organization and the importance of astute leadership to move that organization.
2 Identify criminal justice agency goals and purposes as well as describe the environments in which they must operate;
3 Identify and describe organizational structures and management practices commonly found in criminal justice agencies;
4 Identify and apply methods of evaluating and improving organizational performance; and
5 Identify and apply methods of identifying and solving management and organizational performance problems.
