The class-domination theory of power takes a look at the classes in the United States, particularly the upper class and this group holding, and always having held, the power.
Professor William Domhoff breaks down the definition of domination in this way: “Domination by the few does not mean complete control, but rather the ability to set the terms under which other groups and classes must operate” (Domhoff). It is no secret that the wealthy have much greater of an influence over public policy decisions, or any decisions made in the country, really, than the lower classes. The upper class, from the beginning of our country’s new governmental system, has always held the power. Our Founding Fathers were a part of the upper class, and it’s safe to say that every leader we have seen in the White House as well as all that hold even one of the smaller places in office, were and still are part of the upper
class.
