Classic Examples Of Courageous Characters In Modern Literature
Throughout literature there are many examples of courageous characters. Some of the classical examples include: Jane Eyre of Jane Eyre, Hester Prynne in The Scarlet Letter and Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird. In more modern literature, courage is the characters of Tris in Divergent and Harry Potter and Hermonie Granger in Harry Potter. Another example in modern literature of a courageous individual is found in the unlikely character of Nikolai Kreztsky, who is a Siberian camp guard in the novel Between Shades of Gray. Nikolai Kreztsky’s courageousness is exhibited in his compassionate acts many times throughout the course of the novel.

Mrs. Dubose is a grumpy neighbor of the Finch’s who forces Jem and Scout to read to her after Jem destroys her bushes. Later we find out that Mrs. Dubose was trying to wean off of morphine before she died and was using the kids as a distraction from the pain.
