The first cosmetic that was developed is called ‘per fumum’ in latin which means ‘penetrating smoke’ the first use of this cosmetic goes up to 4~5 thousand years back. It was used to make them clean their body and smell good by burning woods and extracting liquid form leaves which then was used on their body when they are serving God. They found out that heated animal fat and fragrant oil created very strong scent. These perfumes are categorized in to four different perfumes which are, perfume, Eau de Perfume, Eau de Toilette and Eau de Cologne which are determined by their concentration level.
First, it’s perfume. Perfume is also called ‘liquid jewelry’ which has high concentration of scent and perfection and was treated as valuables since the old days. From all aromatic products, perfume has highest concentration and scent. Perfume is one of the finest, pure work of art created by the producers and is commonly create simile with music and picture. The first appearance of perfume was in Hungary in 14th century by queen of Hungary who believed in immortal beauty and created ‘Eau de la Reine Hangrie'. Perfume contains 70~85% alcohol and 15~30% of essence. From that, the concentration of alcohol is about 90~95%. The scent lasts about 12hours and a good perfume contains no water and ethanol and other aldehydes which has any bad smell. Since the scent is strong, perfume is used in parts of body where it is much moved and warm. It can also be used when going out or at the party.
Second, it’s Eau de Perfume. Eau de Perfume is not just a perfume with low concentration but contains most beautiful scent. It lies between perfume and Eau de Toilette which has scent closer to perfume, has high quantity, and has high practical use. Its concentration is slightly lower than perfume itself with alcohol content is about 72~92% and essence is about 8~15%, and uses alcohol with concentration of 80~90% and lasts up to 7 hours.
