Although Warren's narrative undeniably is the more interesting and developed storyline; Creative Forge Games also includes a fairly lengthy side story about a mysterious meteor inflicting the local populace with crippling madness and nightmares. Over the course of three separate scenarios all framed by the mysterious meteor, we learn of the intertwining fates of three characters who all have differing and conflicting motivations.…

Jason Dorrant was an unlikely candidate for the murder of seven-year-old Alicia Bartlett; he was young, shy, and tended to keep to himself, yet, the Monument Police Department targeted him as their prime suspect after no other leads were found and enlisted the help of one of the greatest interrogators, perhaps the greatest, by the name of Trent, to head the interrogation of the boy. Motivated by a promise of position and power, Trent sets to work on Jason to discover his guilt, or lack thereof, and is soon so consumed by his ambition that he feels he must obtain a confession from Jason at all costs, even if that means a false confession. Being the masterful interrogator that he is, Trent makes quick work of it and, despite knowing the contrary, successfully coerces the boy into a confession of his guilt (Cormier). This is a fictional story that takes place in The Rag and Bone Shop, but we must ask ourselves if this could truly happen today, in reality? Are there not laws that prohibit this kind of action against young children and can an interrogator…
To say that there is no good in evil is to deny the very reality of evil’s existence. Black and white thinking such as the topic previously stated is what truly can hurt us the most. When you look at moral issues you must acknowledge that it is a grey spectrum, with many different viewpoints. If I told any person who has actually read East of Eden that I admired Cathy? They would think me insane and possibly give me some nasty looks, as well as cross the street when I walk past. But since you have to read this essay, I think it’s fair that I make my point. Cathy is a real go-getter, she does what she has to to make ends meet. She isn’t easily swayed, and has a strong moral foundation, whether or not it’s a good one is a moot point. Lastly, she’s not easily discouraged. Even in the face of direct adversity, she brushes herself off and keeps on trucking.…
In All The Kings Men, Jack, finds for his dissertation to get his PhD, he writes on his great uncle, Cass Mastern. Cass Mastern was a poor when he was born, but his brother, becoming rich from cotton plantations, came back and supported Cass financially. By the suggestion from Jefferson Davis, he went to Transylvania College in Lexington where through Jefferson, he becomes good friends with Duncan and Annabelle Trice. He fell "head over heels" for Annabelle and had an affair with her. Phebe, the Trice's slave, finds Duncan's wedding ring on his pillow right after he commits suicide which is a sign that he knew that his wife was having an affair. Annabelle, not being able to cope with Phebe knowing she was having an affair, sells Phebe to a…
There is also the matter of a student’s test taking skills. A student may not have good grades or…
The Dutch brought the first African slaves onto American soil when they arrived at Jamestown, Virginia in August 1619. (American Yawp, Chapter 2). This event planted the seeds of slavery, which brought about cruel, inhumane treatment and abuse of a whole race of people. In the earlier colonial days, African slaves were treated like indentured servants- mainly poor Europeans contracted to work for a certain amount of time. However, this would change after the colonies expanded their tobacco plantations and needed a larger workforce.…
These tests do not force students to think on their own. They are not expanding their knowledge, rather they are memorizing information that they know will be on the test. Standardized tests need to force students to learn the…
When the United States was founded, neither women nor African Americans had civil rights. This all began to change in 1800’s when people began to fight for equality. The Women’s Rights Movement and the Abolitionist Movement, although different in leadership and protest, were similar in their motivation and spread of ideas.…
Ever studied for a test and still manage to receive a failing score? It happens to almost all of us. Schools may effectively or ineffectively design study material for a chapter, but to me it does not have a big effect of the overall resulting test scores. A high grade average depends on the students’ method of studying and comprehension, the way that the instructor teaches the material, and the way that the test it produced.…
Standardized tests have been debated and argued for as many years as they have existed. It is worthwhile to look at some of the arguments for both sides and find out if there can be some middle ground. Two important factors of standardized tests are the way the tests are administered and how the results are handled. These two issues may be more important than the tests themselves.…
A Written test is an effective way to conduct the assessment of the learning this will then help ensure the work is their own, in addition to this the person sat at the side of them could have a different test paper, however to keep it fair both papers have to be at the same level, the best way to do this would be to change the wording and or the order of the question on the test paper.…

If the student fails, the teacher fails. If the teacher cannot compel the student to do something, to use his own mind to solve a problem, then he has failed because the student was not successful.…
