I claim that human activities, like emitting greenhouse gases, are causing global warming. Some scientists have decided that we, through the greenhouse effect, are causing global warming by burning oil, gas, and coal.
The greenhouse effect helps to keep the Earth hot enough that it can sustain human life. Sunlight come down through the atmosphere, and then clouds reflect some of it off and back into space. Most of it is used to warm the planet. When the ground is warmed, the earth sends some of the heat back into the atmosphere, where it is trapped by greenhouse gasses.
Humans send out greenhouse gases by burning fossil fuels. We burn fossil fuel to get energy. We use fossil fuels in cars to make them go, in factories to make machinery work, and in power plants. The earth already gives out enough greenhouse gases naturally. That means that when we do activities that emit greenhouse gases, we are sending an excess amount into the atmosphere- which makes the atmosphere retain more heat, resulting in hotter temperatures.
As time has gone on humans have invented more ways to burn fossil fuels. As the amount of greenhouse gasses we give off has risen, so has the average temperatures. This shows us that with humans finding more and more ways to burn fossil fuels our average temperatures will continue to steadily increase throughout time.
Global warming is happening, but we can reduce the rate of it by trying to limit the amount of fossil fuel burning activities we participate in.
