This only leaves John Bittrolff, a 48-year-old from Long Island who, just a year ago, was charged with the murder of two prostitutes nearly 20 years ago. Authorities also suspect him to be involved in a third murder, but not in the Gilgo Beach case. However, they have not released any of the evidence that has proven him to be innocent. Several factors lead the idea that, even though police have dismissed him, Bittrolff is a prime suspect. this is due to the fact that he is the only individual, out of the suspects released, that either did not have an alibi or ended up having no relation to the case. Also, while authorities have claimed that he is not related in any way to the Gilgo case, they have released absolutely no evidence to prove that…

The film showing in Epworth and Owston Ferry in July was ‘The Child Killers’ depicting a true episode of the invasion of France. The support film was a Keystone Cops comic! As noted earlier the obsession with fifth columnists in England meant that spy pictures were very popular. One such was ‘The Spy,' a two-reel drama furthering the belief that German spies were everywhere. Another was ‘The Deadly Model,’ a drama about the German Spy System in London, but by far the most chilling drama shown during these summer months was ‘The Mad Dog of War.’…
Johnny Cade has killed Bob Sheldon and is now on trial for his murder. However, questions have risen regarding to what degree are Johnny’s actions justifiable? Should the defendant be accused of first degree murder, second degree murder, involuntary manslaughter, or is he simply not guilty? I believe that Johnny Cade is guilty of second degree murder.…
Cold cases are very interesting cases. Cold cases are also known as unsolved cases. Crimes that have been unsolved for many years is devastating to the families left behind. Especially, since many cases are left open for many years families are left with the question “ Is he still alive? Is she being held somewhere against her will? Will she ever return home?” The Mcstay family murders and the disappearance of Natalee Holloway are examples of cases yet to be solved.…
Ottie Toole, a serial killer from Jacksonville, Florida, was an accomplice of Henry Lee Lucas, who was also a serial killer. They met at a soup kitchen in Jacksonville, Tennessee, where they began a sexual relationship and crime partnership. “Toole later claimed to have accompanied Lucas in 108 murders, sometimes at the behest of a cult called “The Hands of Death”. Lucas later recanted his confessions, saying he made such statements only to improve his living conditions in jail.” (Newton, 2015). Toole lied to get more respect from the people in jail, most likely for him to fit in and get respect. In 1984, Toole was convicted of setting a fire that killed a 64 year old man named, George Sonnenberg. He was sentenced to death for that…
PBS’s “Second Chance Kids” film is about juveniles who commit heinous crime being giving a second chance to get out of prison and start their life over. The reason for the court creating this new law, enabling inmates that were sentenced to life without parole in prison, is to allow for the opportunity of rehabilitation of the juveniles. Sentencing a juvenile to life without parole is inhumane, because takes away any incentive for that individual to rehabilitate themselves. It is also unfair, because as a minor your brain is still developing which causes minors to act irrational or without thinking, so when a teenage commits a terrible crime that should not be able to define the rest of their life. Some commonalities all the individuals considered…
“Sixteen years on the streets and you can learn a lot. But all the wrong things, not the things you want to learn. Sixteen years on the streets and you see a lot. But all the wrong things, not the things you want to see.” (S.E Hilton, The Outsiders). In the Outsiders, Hilton demonstrates the rough life of gang living. In the story there many negative examples and consequences from the gang life, such as, “rumbles”, violent acts, and even tragic deaths. The gangs were small groups, within the community in which members were often loyal to each other, and to the gang as a whole. All member of the gangs seemed to have unconditional love for one another, and would sacrifice for each other, but shared in hatred and spite for the other group. This caused conflict within the community. Often the gang members would set aside their personal differences, to remain united, and loyal to the group.…
By the time many of the children of the inner city have hit adolescence, they have witnessed and experienced many tragedies that even an adult would find disturbing. They have sold drugs, joined a gang, have seen their best friend shot, or even killed their neighbor. "By season's end, the police would record that one person every three days had been beaten, shot at, or stabbed at Horner. In just one week, they confiscated twenty-two guns and 330 grams of cocaine. Most of the violence here that summer was related to drugs." (32) There events seriously impact the childhoods of the youth, and rob these children of their innocence by showing them events that are not healthy for a child's growing mind to see. Pharaoh and Lafayette, like most all of the other children in the ghettos, are faced with a hard choice: stand up for yourself and succeed by refusing to accept the cities violence, or succumb to the pressure that pushes down on you from…

Additionally, having the loopers kill themselves, and giving them knowledge of when and where that event takes place, compounds issues with the time loop the gangsters are hoping to destroy.…
The gang members choose to take the easy road; they aren’t putting in the effort needed for an honest day’s work and would rather drive around creating destruction and vandalizing things. At the end of the movie we are able to see them be faced with karma as they kill Walt and are subsequently sent to jail. This shows the distinction between the characters motivations those who are essentially good people and are willing to work for their success and those who are willing to break the laws and rules to find easier ways to do things. Michaels also states that the American Dream is based upon the belief that people should work together and help each other and we are able to see that manifest when Walt passes away and leaves his Gran Torino to Thao, giving him a vehicle to further himself towards the American Dream.…
