Close Social Distance Analysis

The distance is determined by how close the represented participants in an image appear to the viewer (Harrison 58). The distance between camera and participants in the image can also indicate an intimate relationship. This also allows the viewer either to imaginatively close to the participants as friends or to take more distant as stranger. According to Harrison, a shot presented only the face or head of the participant shows an intimate distance while a shot presented between the head and shoulders represents a close personal distance (58). A far personal distance is presented through a shot from the waist up and a shot of a whole figure is shown a close social distance (Harrison 58). A far social distance is represented in the whole figure
with space around it. This also suggests the impersonal relationships like the strangers or others (Greenwood 4).
