Where I work/Experience
Centerville
Nursing Home & Rehab Center
I
take care of elderly people, also help people who are only in the facility for short term to help regain their strength back so they can live on there own again.
I’ve
been a CNA for four months now. I’ve worked in the Nursing Home Since the 1 st of January.
I
often work, three days a week and every weekend.
Training
To become a CNA you have to take a 75 hour course/class, to learn how to assist the elderly residents and the daily tasks you have to do as a
CNA.
You also have clinicals you have to participate in to practice all the skills you’ve learned throughout the class.
Then you have to take two tests to pass the class and to be able to get you’re license as a CNA
Future Plans
My future plans are to become a RN which is a registered nurse, being a
CNA helps me practices my skills as I’m going through college to earn my LPN and RN.
You go through the CAN course first, than you have to go through your
LPN which is a licensed practical nurse, than you get to go through your courses for your RN which is a Registered Nurse.
The biggest immediate difference between the LPN versus RN career path is the degree you'll earn. RNs earn a professional nursing degree, while LPNs earn a practical nursing degree. A professional nursing degree consists of more courses, so it takes more time to complete than a practical nursing degree.
