CNG which is commonly known as compressed natural gas was firstly used as transportation fuel in 1821 in United States. It was first drawn from the wells of china. There are more than 1.4 million vehicles on road every day. Countries such as Iran, Pakistan and Argentina make the largest share of consumption of compressed natural Gas internationally. Pakistan is the second largest country in the world in the consumption of CNG. It has been increasing in Pakistan since
1960.This sector has gained a lot of success in the past decade and it has been the fourfold in the expansion of this sector. According to the Energy Year Book, CNG consumption increased at the rate of 24 percent since 2005-06 to 2010-11, the highest increase witnessed in any sector. The demand for the CNG sector has been increasing day by day which ultimately witnessed an extreme point and faced a dilemma of shortage and crises. As the demand for the cng consumption increased so do the supply has increased and the prices have shifted upwards increasing the cng prices to 84.16. People faced lot of trouble with this increase in the price as many of the areas were affected directly as a huge number of people has been involved and is the victim of this CNG.
The Supreme Court appeared to be the helping hand for the people letting their worries wipe of giving their gift for the Grand Eid celebration of EID Ul ADHA. The order was passed for a reduction of CNG prices to Rs.30 letting it to be at Rs 54.16 from Rs 84.92. This led the people to give a ray of hope for the reduction in their overall expense, but who knows that people will be facing more trouble in this way. The shortage started occurring in the worst situation then it had been in the past. The Sui Southern Gas Company started shut down and CNG closure was in routine. Except weekends the closure started occurring in weekdays as well which made the situation more deteriorating and letting people in more trouble.
