Lastly, they do not fight with each other. They grow to become like brothers. Having Piggy and Ralph both be chief is the right decision for the group because they are both striving to complete the same goal, they don’t fight with one another and they work great together and make good decisions for the group and that is what you look for in great leaders.
Piggy and Ralph should be co-leaders because they can make good decisions for the group. Their relationship starts when they first got on the island and they found a conch and Piggy told Ralph to, ”use this to call the others.” so Ralph blew it because Piggy couldn't because of his asthma(Golding 16). Piggy seems to be the brains while Ralph is the voice. Piggy and Ralph are practically opposites which I think is why they bond so well together. Piggy and Ralph’s relationship seems to grow over the duration of the book. Also they both are role models to the littluns. When the group splits up, most of the littluns stay with Piggy and Ralph so that either means that they look up to them or they are scared of Jack. Piggy and Ralph are chasing the same goal in this book. Piggy and Ralph should be co-leader because they have the same overall goal.
Piggy and Ralph’s goal is to ultimately get off of the island, but Jack opposes that goal. Jack wants to hunt and have fun, both are not going to get the boys rescued. Early in the book, Ralph says,” The best thing we can do is to get ourselves rescued.” (53) and Piggy had the same intentions. All Jack wants to do is hunt, but hunting will not get the group saved and Piggy and Ralph know that. Ralph and Piggy seem to always be together. Meaning that they are physically always together and they think together too. The two boys also seem passionate about what they believe in. Unlike the other older kids, they stick with their first opinions on what to focus their energy on on the island. The other boys leave to go hunting with Jack and Piggy and Ralph stay with their beliefs instead of following the crowd. This means that they believe in what they are doing and that they should stick to what they think is right which shows great leadership because a leader should never follow a crowd.Piggy and Ralph also do not …show more content…
fight.
Piggy and Ralph should be co-leaders because they do not fight.
Whenever there is a fight it is always between Jack and someone else, but never between Ralph and Piggy. The boys are also like brothers. When Piggy is crushed by the rock, Ralph’s,” Lips formed a word but nothing came out.”(181) Ralph could not even form a word. Over the duration of the book, Piggy and Ralph’s relationship grew. They always stuck together and kept an eye on the prize. The prize being that they are saved. I think that Ralph and Piggy being so close kept them alive so as long as they did. If they had fought with each other, one of the boys probably would have joined Jack and end up killing the other one. I think that all of the boys should have thought about their choice as leader better. I don't think that Ralph alone can lead a group well but Ralph and Piggy combined would make a great
leader.
