The purpose of coaching is to support the individual being coached. This could be done by informing the employee what they have done well and what they may improve. Furthermore coaching is about helping the employee when he/she faces problems and motivating them when there is difficulties. Moreover coaching is about empowering the employee with their job decisions and to help them develop their skills and abilities. To conclude coaching’s purpose is to deal with the ability issues of an employee while trying to achieve a desired performance.
2. What could be pitfalls during coaching?
A pitfall during coaching is that the coach may tend to give solutions to problems. The coach should not give solution to the problems of the employee this may cause that the employee will not feel satisfied.
Coaching within a company between an employee and manager can be risky due to a pitfall of thee coach being easy to fall in the counselling style or authoritative style. This also create a pitfall for the employee not feeling fully secure or totally open about issues with the manager.
3. What are the differences between a leader, a manager and a coach?
A leader is someone who inspirers others, that is original and people naturally look up to. The leaders have a circle of influence, which follows, and they lead people.
A manager has power over people and delegate the tasks. Managers count value, organize and allocates sources. Furthermore they control and solve problems
As previously mentioned coaching is about asking such question to the employee so they can focus on their potentials and how they can reach their goal.
To conclude the difference between them are that leaders inspire people to do a job and doesn’t tell them how to do it as a manager would do. And the difference with a coach is that a coach let you look yourself what you want to do, why and how you are going to achieve the job.
