The primary goal of getting to the CFP is essentially no longer in play. The goal of the SEC Championship with the current offense and injuries on defense has exponentially gotten a lot harder. Which leads me to the point of this post.…

Michael Jordan, a basketball superstar, once said: “I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can’t accept not trying.” We all are destined for something great. There are people destined to be an Olympian. There are people who are destined to win an Oscar or to star in blockbuster movies. But there are people whose steps lead to the making of basketball legends.…
Miriam Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary defines ‘coach’ as “one who instructs players in the fundamentals of a competitive sport and directs team strategy” (218). Many people depict coaches as grouchy, intense people who only care about whether their team wins. A coach, to me, is more than that. A coach is a person who teaches valuable lessons, whether it be on or off the court, field, or stage. They…
As a fourth grader, being told that “winning isn’t everything” was a little hard to believe. Only recently do I realize how true this statement is and how important it is to learn this. I believe that in playing sports, what is most important is improving oneself, working as a team, and demonstrating good sportsmanship. Playing CBAA basketball has taught me these values and has played a large role in shaping me into the humble and compassionate person that I am today.…
a. Playing men’s basketball in college was a wonderful opportunity for me on several levels. It provided an opportunity that pushed me to work harder than I have ever worked before and it challenged me, mentally and physically. Playing college basketball taught me how to work hard, even when the results may not be immediate, or visible, right away. From this experience, I learned how to compete on the daily basis, while at the same time working together with my team to push each other to become better as a unit.…
I played basketball for all four years of my high school. I was on the freshman team my freshman year, Junior Varsity team my sophomore year, and played Varsity my junior and senior year. My freshman year I was voted team captain and that helped me gain leadership skills and communication skills. I earned the award of honorable mentioned in basketball. In Basketball I practiced a lot, because I knew I could get better. Throughout basketball we had several coaching changes. We had Mr. Smith then Mr. Parker and now Mrs. Smith as coaches. Having a different coach every year I feel like it was making it more difficult for the players to grow as a team and ourselves. Each coach had very different ways of teaching the game. Even though it was hard to have coaches leave we also gained different amounts of knowledge from each one, which I thought was a great privilege to get to…
When playing basketball in high school the training is a breeze compared to college. When in High school we only started training one month prior to the basketball season. We would put more effort in fundamentals and drills than in lifting weights or running. Any high school coach would rather have players that are fundamentally sound in the game. Strength and conditioning will always come second to most high school coaches. Although in…
I have joined many extracurricular activities in school such as, Cross Country, Track, National Honor Society and UIL math competitions. From all this clubs I have been the leader for Track and Cross Country. I was the captain for track when I was in 10th grade also I have been the leader for cross country since my junior year. While leading this teams there were some obstacles we overcame as a team. We was not fast enough to win anything during my first year of leading the team, we was not as famous as we are now. We did not had many supporters in the arena we compete in also our own school kids did not knew us, all they knew were the football team, basketball and soccer team. This really upset me because I and my teammates deserved to be…
Danny has always been the best on his team. One reason being because his dad was an NBA player for a while so he knew a few things about the game. When Danny goes to summer basketball camp, only to find he’s one of the the smallest kids there. He needs to find out what to do to fix his problem. He is really skilled, but really short as well. The bigger players there are a walking all over him on the court. Another problem on the list is he has a coach at the camp that dislikes, him, and vice versa.…
Even for people that don’t know anything about basketball, there is one major difference that stands out between school and rec basketball: the coaching. When you play…
The thesis is an essay about the difference between NBA media contrasting from the past to the present on national television. In Particular this thesis analyses the implementation of television broadcast of the NBA and how coverage changed the game. The games themselves were broken down into four segments: pregame, halftime, postgame, and game coverage. The pregame show was further sectioned into four areas: the opening part of the broadcast, which in broadcasting terminology is known as a tease, introduction of announcers, and team line-ups/injury reports. The content of the pregame shows was also analysed. It was determined that pregame coverage has developed a more modern sophisticated approach since the 1980s, with more elaborate teases…

Since I was 7 years old, basketball has played an integral part of my life. I have devoted countless hours to not just a sport, but a passion, an outlet; to the game that I love. When I arrived at Bow Middle School as a fifth grader, my classmates and I would always look up to the 7th and 8th grade middle school basketball teams. Every year during winter carnival, the boys and girls teams would play a game in front of the entire school. Playing in that game became a dream and a goal of mine, but first I would need to make the team. For three years I developed my basketball skills, using my passion for the sport and desire to play in that game as motivation. When tryouts for basketball in 8th grade drew near, I knew I was ready. However a new coach would be at the helm this year. Our new basketball coach was also a coach for the youth football program. This resulted in numerous football…
