The western Florida Coast has been abused in the number of permits approved for large upscale buildings. The popularity, beauty, and comforting weather during winter makes this place perfect for tourism. The problem is that the buildings reduce the beaches ad many construction sites extract coastal sand for their projects.
The coastal erosion that affects my hotel are both natural and anthropogenic. The slow rise of the sea level is gradual and takes time to happen, but this region is impacted by hurricanes and tropical storms which cause a severe costal erosion in short time. Many efforts to combat erosion, such as sand fill, are defeated by severe weather systems.
As we have seen on all natural processes, there is balance everywhere, but civilization has brought imbalance to nature. For example, sand, longshore …show more content…
To correct this imbalance men has built structures, piers, sea walls, jetties, and navigational inlets, all designed to prevent sand movement. But no one can stop the currents, and erosion continuous to be a costly problem; besides, the structures do not contribute to the natural process of sand replenishment.
The Florida government has taken steps to prevent and restore erosion, such as the Florida Beach and Shore Preservation Act. This legislation has several programs such as The Construction Control Line Program and The Beaches, Inlets, and Port Program.
As a business owner and scientist, I must adhere to the regulations and help with the problem. My hotel is an active volunteer to solve this problem around my area.
The erosion causes to my property include onshore (on land), offshore (in the sea) and anthropogenic causes
