Batteries
Our electronics that we use everyday cost a lot more than you may think. The batteries in our electronics have cobalt in them. Cobalt is a silvery-gray metal that's found with other elements in compounds. About 110,000 tons of cobalt are mined every year. Cobalt is mined by people as young as 7 in the Democratic Republic of Congo in Central Africa. It's a danger because cobalt is a toxic material that causes serious health problems.
The miners mine in hazardous conditions without proper tools and safety equipment. They work shifts up to 24
