Importance of Engineering Code of Ethics
• 1. To inspire, guide, and support the engineer in making his decision. • 2. To enhance the profession’s public image and to promote engineers’ business interest. • 3. To provide a basis for deterrence of unethical behavior and as a disciplinary guide for breaches of ethical behavior.

The Ford Pinto Case (1972)
• Rear-end Collision.
• The Ford Pinto exploded.
• The survivor and the relatives of the killed driver sued Ford Motor Company. • Design defect on the fuel tank. • Ford paid for compensatory damages and punitive damages. • About 50 suits againts Ford for the defective Pinto fuel tank.
