Every man dies but not every man really lives. Sometimes when we work each day immersed in global demands, standards or norms set by the society; it becomes easy for us to forget that even the tiniest things in this world can move one person at a time. We forget that often the most important message that life really tells us is to not just merely exist but learn to live our lives to the fullest. August 20, 1995, was the day that I was born at San Fernando City, La Union. I was humbly raised by my parents at our simple home in Caba, La Union. I am the eldest of the four siblings and the favored child of my father. I am currently taking up Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering here at Saint Louis University. I love color blue because it symbolizes trust, peace, openness and freedom. I love to watch fiction movies because it helps me to realize that happy endings do really exist in this world we live in. I love to read books and also to write stories, poems and novels. I was an academic achiever when I was in High School and elementary but being an achiever didn’t give me a guarantee to have an easy life. I have to turn each stumbling block on my way as stepping stones so that I can be successful someday. Just like the life cycle of a coffee bean, I too, have to undergo a lot of processes to be the person who I’m really meant to be. I am a coffee bean, the one that is like the Kalinga Brew. My skin might not have the same color as the coffee but hidden in the deepest core of my heart is a coffee bean story. Before a coffee bean is turned into the most delicious beverage in your cups it must undergo a lot of process just like me, you can never understand me not unless you dig deeper and unlock the mysteries hidden within me. After a coffee bean was planted and sprang out of its seed coat, at some point it will be exposed to intense sunlight to harden the young plant, just like my life, I have to experience pain, struggles, disappointments
