Cognitive Dissonance And Persuasions
What is cognitive dissonance and the art of persuasion, where attitudes, emotions, and ethics play a factor in persuading an employee as to the characteristics of theoretical work situations. So, what is intellectual disagreement, the state of having unpredictable thoughts, theories, or arrogances, especially as relating to social choices and defiance change. Cognitive dissonance causes an ill feeling of uncertainty which in turns leads to unexpected modifications to one or more of the following: arrogances, theories, or performance in order to elevate the unwanted discomfort while reinstating stability. Basically stating, when faced with reservations that make us uncomfortable, we find alternative ways in dealing with the situation to …show more content…
While everyone attitudes can change in an instant, seeking out those possible consistencies as to our conduct and views will put things back into prospective in- regard to our attitudes; we just did to be aware of our inner cognitive behaviors to be cognitively consistent otherwise we become assertive and uncontrollable. “According to Festinger, we hold many cognitions about the world and ourselves; when they clash, a discrepancy is evoked, resulting in a state of tension known as cognitive dissonance” (Mc Leod, 2008). Consequently, when this becomes unacceptable to our eyes, we tend to find alternative ways to drive ourselves away from the unpleasantness; and attain harmony once again. One positive result into correcting this is to ultimately change our actions, elevate the distraction; and justify our principles by applying new mental perceptions as to our behavioral state. “For example, when you are forced to sell Lobster to your customers, but know the quality of the product does not meet company standards; yet you tell the customer it’s the best you’ve ever had by literally hiding the truth. However, she believes that hiding the truth is unethical, and may want to reveal the truth; but realizing that maybe it’s not really important to mention for it’ won’t create no harm or foul causing her attitude and behavior to …show more content…
Though, everyone as mood swing, attitudes, and changes in behavior from time to time, knowing how to persuade the cognitive mind into making a bad situation into a good is not an easy task; it takes skill and encouragement through the art of persuasion and trustworthiness. Therefore, manager need to be attentive to situations that arise in a working, and find alternative methods to introduce change; will using persuasive measures to route the ineffectiveness into a more positive attribute. If these characteristics are applied with these suggestion in mind then managers, individual, co-workers will continue to have consistency with their behavior, and no how to change their inconsistency while avoiding dissonance. This can be accomplished by knowing a positive way to change their attitude and behaviors, and by using the art of persuasion; through that of cognitive

    I truly enjoyed exploring the continence of your informative post. It is true as you stated that “Cognitive dissonance is the inability to maintain cognitive consistency because of two thoughts.” When an individual is squeezed in the middle of two different thoughts opposing each other, he then becomes confused, and may undertake a state of discomfort. At that point his internal and external body factors become most important to control his personality. Most of the time individuals are pretty consistent with what they believe, therefore ignoring the real sense of the situation. This can be justified by whether though the individual is conscious or unconscious of his behavior, attitude, belief, or habit.     Cognitive dissonance is having a thought, idea, attitude, or belief that seems to be out of tune. Cognitive dissonance tends to result in different ways based on the situation that it occurs in. If a person is forced to say an opinion that differs from their own, they experience an out of tune feeling. In Roger Hock’s book “Forty Studies that Changed Psychology,” he recognizes the study of cognitive dissonance performed by Leon Festinger.
