The situation I provided above was an example of the absences of cognitive flexibility. To prevent a similar situation with my work center, I will apply cognitive flexibility with my subordinates to plan for any unexpected problem that might arises. I will develop a plan for my subordinates to learn each other’s additional duties such as spectacle glasses web monitor. Therefore, if one my of my Staff Sergeant (SSgt) is unavailable then I will have my other SSgt to run the program. As for my peers, I will be prepare to assist them with their flight chief duties since my flight share a common area with other flights. If peers are absence then I can step in to help their subordinates. Lastly, I will use cognitive flexibility to my supervisor, who is an Optometrist and the squadron deputy commander, so when he tasks me with a new project that I use the appropriate plan of action. Since I am an Optometry technician and the flight chief, I will develop different plan of action to perform either clinic duties or flight duties depending on my supervisor’s request. I will also train my Technical Sergeant-select for the flight chief duty if I am absence then my supervisor is able to approach the Technical Sergeant-select instead.
