'Collateral Beauty In Starting Over'
Starting Over
The meaning of collateral beauty could be used to refer to the bright side of something. For example, during an unfortunate event, a person could look for the collateral beauty or the bright side of the situation. The whole movie is based on starting over; every character throughout the movie changed his or her life by accepting their love for something, realized that time has passed, or accepted the fact of death. Starting over can be hard in some cases, but pushing through and looking at the collateral beauty in the situation will make the struggle worth it in the long run. The insert explains everything bad has a good side to it and one might have to look at the collateral beauty. Wit, a character from the movie, needed help finding a way for his daughter to love him again.
When the abstraction “Love” came in to helped wit and his daughters relationship around. When talking to his daughter she said that she hated him and did not want to see him . He did not know what to say and just walked away, but he saw the collateral beauty in his problem. Then went back after his talk with love to speak to her about their time together and how they can resolve it. His daughter saw the collateral beauty in their situation and gave her dad a second chance. That scene in the movie showed how starting over can be difficult at first but one has to keep trying and turn it around.
Simon, a character from the movie, feared death becauses he is suffering from a rare form of cancer. He fears telling his loved one because he may leave them penniless. After talking to “Death” about the cancer, he was convinced to talk to his family. Simon started over by telling his family about the rare cancer he had and was dying from it.
