In order for the novel to progress, certain conflicts must be solved. The first conflict is the order of how Fezzik and Inigo will get Max to perform his miracle. In the novel, he goes back and forth between his wife, Valerie, and Fezzik and Inigo. He and Valerie decide if Inigo and Fezzik can pay the price of at least 50, he will work his miracle. However, they are able to pay up to the price of 65, and Max still refuses them. In the movie, he just states that he has never worked for such a small amount of money. The one exception was for a very noble cause. One conflict solved, one more to go. Now they have to convince Max that it is a noble cause. In the book, Inigo convinces him when he tells him, “If you bring him back to life, he will stop Prince Humperdinck’s marriage…. Humiliations galore” (Goldman, 1973). In the novel, Inigo tells Max that Westley will stop Humperdinck’s marriage if he brings him back to life. Once the conflicts are solved, everyone gets…

Picture this: You're fighting for your life, by yourself, with no one by your side to tell you it will be alright. You hear footsteps, gun shots, and the clock ticking to the sound of your death. You realize that this could be your last or luckiest day on earth. This plot is played perfectly by Marshal Will Kane from High Noon, and hunter Sanger Rainsford from "The Most Dangerous Game." High Noon is a western movie about a newly married Marshal by the name of Will Kane, who finds out that his enemy, Frank Miller, is coming back to town from jail, to get revenge and eliminate him since Kane put him in jail. ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ directed by Spike Jonze links to the theme crisis and change through the character Max and his struggle to control his emotions. Max runs away and falls asleep and dreams of the island where the wild things live each wild thing representing parts of himself and his relationships with his family members. On the island he is placed to govern his own feelings after fighting with his mother. The wild things are symbols of the relationships he has with his sister and mum and his own emotions. Many of what happens in his world where the wild things live parallel Max’s reality such as the dirt clod war which contrasts the snowball fight he had where he splits his emotions into good and ‘bad’ teams. Carroll, Douglas and KW are on his side while Judith, Ira, Alexander and Bull are classed as bad. Carroll is a symbol of Max’s uncontrollable anger and his destructive side which Max understands the best because he is constantly battling anger. Douglas is the symbol of reason and KW a girl who is full of love and represents his mother especially when she hides him from Carroll and also the close relationship between Carroll and KW because he does have a close relationship with his mother and she is the one who experiences the most of his anger bursts, however she is not really there when he needs her because she has to work. But there is a lovely moment between Max and his mother early on in the film which symbolises the love between them, when his mother writes the story Max tells her while he plays with her feet. ‘”There were some buildings... There were these really tall buildings, and they could walk. Then there were some vampires. And one of the vampires bit the tallest building, and his fangs broke off. Then all his other…

In the very first pages of the story, Max’s desire for power is rather distinct. His actions and words show his longing to be a leader. What Max fails to realize is that his actions cause him to become distant from the real world, and ultimately, Max abuses his power and resorts to oppression. Max’s harsh misbehavior is evidence that he wants to be in charge. Max’s behavior first changes when he puts on his wolf suit and starts acting as a fearless leader. The tall, pointy ears of the wolf suit act as Max’s crown. He chases his dog around the house, trying to be his king. As these things are happening, Max also carries a fork, acting as his scepter for the ability to control his subjects. Like all great rulers that have an elaborate place of residence to reside in, Max uses his creativity and nails a blanket to the wall, creating a tent for himself. His mother, trying to keep her young child under control, sends her son to his room without dinner for yelling at her and acting out, simply trying to teach him a lesson. Little does Max’s mother know, that when she sends Max to his room, she is putting a stop to Max’s wild imagination, causing him to desire power, even more. Not only does Max’s behavior develop as the story goes on, but the images…
